True Andersonvillites don’t warm up by the fireplace or with a parka, they snuggle up to a glass of warmth, called Glogg, when the temperatures plunge.  Simon’s Tavern (5210 N Clark) serves up their first Glogg glass of the season tomorrow, November 23rd. The beverage has Nordic roots, with a base of heated red wine and spices such as cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, cloves and bitter orange added.  Stronger versions also include brandy or vodka.  It is then served up with raisens, blanched almonds and a ginger snap biscuit.

In addition to Simon’s, you can warm with with a glass of Glogg at the following Andersonville locales:  Andies, Hamburger Mary’s, Fireside, and Hopleaf. If you want to purchase it, and drink at home, check out Andersonville Wine and Spirits on the corner of Clark and Foster.
